Productivity Part-3

Understanding the importance of boundaries in work

In the words of former Indian President, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, “Love your job but do not love your company, because you may not know when your company stops loving you.”

Companies can change quickly, and it’s not always easy to tell when the tide is turning. You may be doing great work, but if the company’s priorities shift or the leadership changes, you could find yourself out of a job. Like what happened in the recent tech layoffs at Amazon, Google, and Meta. When you are out of a job, neither the boss nor the client will offer you a helping hand, but your family and friends will.

Let us draw more from the wise words of our former President, “Interest of a client at work is important, but so is your family.” “Life is not only about work, the office, and clients. There is more to life. You need time to socialize, entertain, relax, and exercise.” Finally, let us finish with another famous quote by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, “A person who stays late at the office is not a hardworking person. It could be a sign that the person is inefficient and incompetent in the work.”
