A penalty refers to the monetary fine or disciplinary consequence one must bear for violating a law, contract, or rule. While riding our bikes on the streets of Chennai one day, my friend and I were unaware of the newly implemented rules for bikers. Though my friend was wearing a helmet, I, regrettably, was not. Along the roads, warning signboards displayed the police’s advisory to both riders and passengers to wear helmets for safety. Unfortunately, we fell into the hands of the authorities, and as a result, we paid the penalty for our actions. This incident served as a wake-up call, prompting us to be more cautious in the future, ensuring that we always wear our helmets whenever we venture outside.
