How to succeed in a group discussion?

We have to actively make an effort to listen and understand their point of view. This will help us respond effectively and contribute to the discussion in a meaningful way. Also, we should not interrupt and cut others short.

We should have a good understanding of various topics, and this can be cultivated by reading and listening to topics that generally evince the interest of an educated person. The information we glean from these readings can be used in arguments or to convincingly win a point of contention.

We should also actively contribute our own ideas and opinions, and build on the ideas of others. Being open to new ideas and perspectives even if you disagree with someone else's opinion is a great skill. We should try to understand their point of view and be respectful in our responses.

It can be easy to get sidetracked in a group discussion, so we should not delve into irrelevant topics or get caught up in personal stories.
